Internet Charter Renewal 2.0 Launches Next Friday

Posted on Oct 9 2021 - 9:48pm

It's that time of year again, recharter! The new Internet Recharter system, which will open on Friday, October 15th, provides a more simplistic approach to the rechartering process - if you're a Key 3 member of a unit, or a Key 3 delegate, you just log in to the system with the same user name and password that you use for Scoutbook or my.scouting. You'll also be able to upload most or all of the paperwork required to complete your unit's recharter! Still, the system and process are new, and it would be a good idea to review the videos, user guide, and FAQs that National has put together. Click read more for all the details.

Nominations for the 2022 Silver Comet District Committee and District Annual Business Meeting

Posted on Sep 4 2021 - 2:19pm

The District Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying candidates qualified and willing to serve as District Chairman, District Commissioner, and District Vice Chairman.
The Committee also identifies Scouters qualified and willing to serve as District Members-at-Large who will contribute to the many aspects of District Scouting including Membership, Funds Development, and all of the Program areas and Operating Committees.
It takes dedicated leadership to provide the excellent Scouting programs that are offered to our youth, and Silver Comet has many motivated and capable volunteers that would make ideal candidates to serve the District but we may not know who they are. Anyone may submit nominations so please help us by submitting the names of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers for consideration.

Nominations will be accepted through October 20, 2021.

Election of District Officers and Members at Large takes place at the District Annual Business Meeting.

The Annual Business Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, 7 pm.
Information on attending the meeting, and whether the Meeting will be in person or Virtual will be provided nearer the meeting date.

Eligible Voters are all Silver Comet Registered Charter Organization Representatives, Silver Comet Registered District Members at Large, and any registered Council Members at Large residing within the Silver Comet District.
For details on submitting nominations, selection of individuals to fill the District positions, and the election of District Officers and Members go to our Silver Comet Nominating Committee webpage.

Early Bird Pricing for Webelos Woods Ends Next Week

Posted on Aug 28 2021 - 11:17pm

Early bird pricing for Webelos Woods ends Sunday, September 8th. On September 9th, the price will increase to $20 per Scout and $15 per adult, so lock in that discount by registering this week!

Webelos Woods is a camporee-style weekend strictly for Webelos & Arrow of Light Cub Scouts (and their adult leaders/parents) from all over the Silver Comet District. It takes place at Woodruff Scout Camp in Blairsville, GA, in the beautiful North Georgia mountains.

Using the patrol method (a team of 5-6 youth), Scouts will compete in a series of games and activities that utilize various Scout skills. This is a great opportunity for Scouts (and parents!) to get a feel for what it’s like to be a member of Scouts BSA.

Register now while the cost is still $15 per Scout and $10 per adult. Please note that younger siblings are NOT permitted at this event.

Visit https://www.atlantabsa.org/admin2/events/3974/21598/Silver-Comet-District-Webelos-Woods to register!

The Cub Adventure Trail Was a Great Success!

Posted on Aug 21 2021 - 10:25pm

On Saturday, August 14th, Cub Scouts from around the Silver Comet District participated in our inaugural Cub Scout Adventure Trail, held at Green Meadows Preserve in Marietta. 71 Cub Scouts from 13 packs spent the morning hiking and stopping at various stations to complete Adventure requirements such as Knots, Personal Fitness, Nutrition, Duty to God, Leave no Trace, and more! Thank you to all of the parents and Scouts who braved the blazing heat to come out and participate in our event and help make it a success. A special thanks also goes out to ALL of our adult and youth volunteers for giving their time. We couldn't have done it without you!
