Last weekend a dedicated group of Silver Comet Scouts and Scouters helped over 80 mothers and their sons set up camp sites and engage in fun outdoor activities at the City of Acworth Annual Mother/Son Campout. What a wonderful, community-focused way to show Scout service and spirit! Thank you to the Scouts and parents of Troop 116: Alex Coogler, Noah Coogler (Second Class Scout), Lauren Schwartz, Luke Schwartz (Tenderfoot Scout), Susan Rodgers, and John Rodgers (Tenderfoot Scout); and the Eagle Scouts and Leaders of Troop 350: Conner Kautz, Evan Kautz, Andrew Helbling, and Gary Roberts. Thank you to Steve Helbling and Jeff Starnes for organizing the district's annual support of this community event. Thank you also to Chris Skibbie, a member of the community who overheard Scout Leaders discussing the event and came out to volunteer.
We’d like to invite your unit to submit photos for the District Banquet slide show. Upload your pictures here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/j9XXBMCmDSh8wTYm7 or bring your pictures on a flash drive to the District Committee Meeting, Thursday, March 5th, 7pm at the First Church of the Nazarene on Dallas Highway.
It seems like lots of families are doing pandemic cleaning - American Legion Post 294 in Powder Springs has about 7 barrels of American flags that need retiring! If your unit is interested in helping to give these flags a proper send-off, please contact Elden Morris, at 770-713-4403.
The Atlanta Area Council has launched a new program called Scouting On Demand. More information about the program is available on the Council's website: https://www.atlantabsa.org/ScoutingOnDemand. The first resources are aimed at Cub Scout families. Currently, the Council hopes to have resources available for Scouts BSA families in early 2021. This is a great resource for families that are not ready to participate in in-person unit activities. Click "read more" for more information, or visit the website linked above.
The Atlanta Area Council's Scouting On Demand program is doing their best to keep Cub Scout families engaged in Scouting activities throughout the pandemic.
