Lindsay McVicar Leaving Silver Comet to Pursue New Opportunities

Posted on May 17 2019 - 3:52pm

Congratulations to our District Executive, Lindsay McVicar, who is leaving her role as a professional Scouter to pursue an opportunity with a financial marketing firm in Kennesaw. She has chosen to make the change with the goal of beginning graduate school part time next year. Although Lindsay has only been with the Atlanta Area Council for 10 months, she has made a lasting impact on the current and future success of Scouting in the Silver Comet District. The district is grateful for her unwavering dedication, guidance, and service and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Lindsay sends this note to all:

I hope you’re all doing well. I am writing to let you all know that this week will be my last full week as a professional Scouter with the AAC. I have accepted a new position so that I can work on my Master’s degree part time next year.

I want to let you all know what an honor it has been to work with each of you to serve our community. I will always treasure working with the Scouters of Silver Comet, and the opportunity to be a part of that family. This was an incredibly hard decision to make, and I want to express my deepest apologies for leaving on short notice. Unfortunately the role I am taking needs filling right away. I am working very hard to pass to Hubert what I can, and wrap up any projects I am working on right now. If you have any tasks you’d like my help completing this week, please let me know. My last day is technically May 24th, but due to some oddly timed vacation, that will be my only day in the office next week.

If any of you ever would like my help as a volunteer, please let me know as it would be an absolute privilege to continue to work with all of you. I appreciate all of the support, guidance, and opportunities you’ve provided to me over the last year. I doubt I will ever be able to fully put into words how much I have grown and learned from Silver Comet.

Thank you again for everything.

Yours in Scouting,

Lindsay McVicar

Nominations for the 2019 Silver Comet District Committee

Posted on Aug 29 2018 - 5:34pm

The District Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying candidates qualified and willing to serve as District Chairman, District Commissioner, and District Vice Chairman.
The Committee also identifies Scouters qualified and willing to serve as District Members-at-Large who will contribute to the many aspects of District Scouting including Finance, Membership, and all of the Program areas and Operating Committees.

It takes dedicated leadership to provide the excellent Scouting programs that are offered to our youth, and Silver Comet has many motivated and capable volunteers that would make ideal candidates to serve the District but we may not know who they are. Please help us by submitting their names for consideration.

Nominations will be accepted through October 18, 2018.
For details on submitting nominations, selection of individuals to fill the District positions, and the election of District Officers and Members go to our Silver Comet Nominating Committee webpage.
