Silver Comet Welcomes Back the STEM Nova Program!

STEM is Back announcement

The STEM Nova Program was discontinued by Scouting America, effective June 1st, 2025.  However, Councils and Districts have been given permission to continue and administer the program locally. The Atlanta Area Council has elected not to continue with the program at this time, but the Silver Comet District has picked up the reins, and today, we are proud to announce the rollout of the revamped Nova Awards program in our district!

The new STEM Nova page, located HERE, has a wealth of information to help you get started.

We invite all Silver Comet Cub Scouts (Wolf -rank through AOL rank) and Scouts BSA Scouts to review the requirements and reach out to a district Nova Counselor or Supernova Mentor to begin working on the various awards. The Cub Scout Nova awards have been updated to reflect last year's changes to the required and elective adventures. New awards will be coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Silver Comet Constellation Award for Lions and Tigers

Although Scouts in the Lion and Tiger dens enthusiastically participate in pack activities and programs, they are currently ineligible for any Nova-related recognition. Silver Comet recognizes the importance of introducing foundational concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to our youngest Scouts as well, through engaging and playful activities.

With that, we are proud to announce to Silver Comet Constellation Award, which is now available for Lion and Tiger Scouts ONLY. Although technically not a Nova award, the Constellation Award must still be approved and recorded by a district Nova Counselor. Scouts who successfully complete all award requirements and submit a completed application signed by their Nova Counselor will earn the coveted NEW Constellation Award patch!
