As Scouters, parents, and leaders, we are always on the lookout for meaningful activities that get our youth outside, teaching them the value of service while creating lasting family memories.
Finding these local opportunities usually means digging through dozens of town calendars, social media pages, and community boards. Not anymore!
We are thrilled to officially launch the new Community Connections Hub on the Silver Comet District website. The brainchild of our Roundtable Commissioner, this curated space is specifically designed to plug our Scout families and units directly into the heartbeat of Cobb County through two major features:
The Silver Comet Community Resource Guide
Think of this as your local roadmap for planning. The Resource Guide is built around four core pillars—Explore, Learn, Serve, and Connect—focusing on the Silver Comet district, including Powder Springs, Austell, Mableton, Smyrna, Vinings, Kennesaw, and Acworth.
Whether you are a Cubmaster looking for a new park to explore, a Scoutmaster searching for an conservation service project, or a parent planning a weekend learning outing, this guide is your ultimate shortcut.
The Upcoming Community Events Calendar
Alongside the guide, we have launched a live community events calendar to ensure you never miss out on local happenings. From neighborhood festivals to public safety days, we do the heavy lifting of tracking down family-friendly dates.
A few exciting events already loaded onto the calendar for this month include:
Family Movie Nights: Catch a big-screen movie under the stars at Thurman Springs Park.
Hands-on Safety Education: Explore the Cobb Family Fun Safety Day at the Safety Village.
Touch-a-Truck Finales: Meet local fire, police, and animal services heroes at the Smyrna Public Library.
Back-to-School Bashes: Get ready for the new school year with major community events at Logan Farm Park, Jim R. Miller Park, and Town Center Mall.
Service Projects: Join Keep Cobb Beautiful for a family-friendly Adopt-a-Mile cleanup along Riverside Parkway.
